Has your child ever taken Augmentin and it made them throw up 3-4 days after the first dose?

My son (18 months) was diagnosed with an ear infection Tuesday and started taking Augmentin on Wednesday – 4mL twice a day. The first few days it didn’t seem to bother his stomach but today is a different story. We gave him his dose with breakfast this morning and he’s been throwing up all day long! I don’t know if it’s b/c of the medicine or if he maybe has a stomach virus along with an ear infection! He’s in a pretty good mood but I’m worried about my little guy! Anybody have a similar experience?

Our kids got diarrhea from Augmentin, but that’s common with oral antibiotics. It usually showed up on the second day. I’d guess that your son’s vomiting is probably just the flu, but it might make it hard for him to get the medicine into his system. If it continues into another day, you might want to give the doctor a call and ask what to do. Hope he feels better soon! That’s tough to have both problems at once.
